Anay's Naming Ceremony - Watching a Family's Story Grow

There are some families who become much more than clients over the years. They become familiar faces, familiar voices, and before you realise it, you find yourself celebrating every new chapter right alongside them.

The Kantak family is one of those families for us.

From photographing both brothers' weddings to later documenting the beautiful baby shower, we've had the privilege of witnessing so many milestones together. Being invited once again, this time to celebrate little Anay's naming ceremony.

The celebration at Copper Chimney was intimate, elegant, and filled with genuine happiness. Grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends gathered under one roof, all waiting for one special moment that would stay with the family forever.

Then came the name reveal.

As the golden cloth was gently lifted away, everyone was welcomed by a beautiful arrangement of deep red roses with "ANAY" crafted in delicate white roses at its centre. For a brief moment, the room fell silent before it erupted into applause, smiles, and joyful cheers. It wasn't simply the announcement of a name, it was the beginning of a new identity, one that little Anay will carry for the rest of his life.

The rest of the afternoon unfolded exactly the way family celebrations should. There were endless cuddles, laughter echoing across the room, playful conversations, photographs with every generation, and countless people eager to steal a few precious moments with the newest member of the family. Anay, blissfully unaware of all the excitement surrounding him, remained the centre of every smile and every conversation.

As photographers, we often say we're privileged to capture memories. But occasions like these remind us that we're not just documenting events, we're witnessing families grow. Seeing familiar faces move from weddings to parenthood and now to celebrating a child's first milestone is incredibly special, and it's a journey we're grateful to be a part of.

Years from now, Anay may not remember this afternoon himself. But through these photographs, he'll be able to see just how deeply he was loved from the very beginning. And perhaps that's what makes a naming ceremony so meaningful, not the name alone, but the people who gather to celebrate the life that has just begun.
